π© Multi-Channel Cadence

Why Other Channels
β
Human beings have very varied tastes.
β
You may prefer the phone, but others will not.
β
Other channels will multiply the chances you will cut through the noise.
β
The phone should always be the star of the show.
β
However, it doesnβt mean you shouldnβt implement channels.
β
Typically, the more various, the better.
β
Before we dive in, my current cadence is below.
β
Cadence
β
β
Very phone-heavy, starting with 4 touchpoints.
β
Letβs break it down.
β
Voicemail
β
But Giulio, people donβt listen to voicemails!
β
Absolute nonsense.
β
Phone carriers made it easy to listen to/read them.
β
Youβll be surprised how often they will be listened to.
β
What you say is important:
β
DO NOT:
β
- Pitch
- Speak too fast
- Leave your number
- Start with the name and company
β
DO:
β
- Reduce tension
- Build familiarity
- Create curiosity
- Point to other channel+
β
Example:
β
Hi {name},
β
There is no need to return this call; I will send you an email titled Voicemail with some context and a LinkedIn connection request.
β
My name is Giulio Segantini, by the way. Have a great day.
β
The aim is NOT to get a callback but to increase the chances other channels will be looked at.
β
I will typically point to the second email Iβm about to send in the second voicemail.
β
β
Letβs be real: Iβm not a crazy phone fanatic arguing that emails donβt work.
β
I got a ton of meetings from cold emails and follow-up emails.
β
The beauty of the phone is that it will boost other channels.
β
Your calls, Voicemail, SMS etc, will remind prospects you exist.
β
That being said, I do not like spending too long on emails.
β
I have a super simple approach:
β
Subject: Voicemail / Missed Call
β
just left you one, {name}.
β
Would an extensive resource on cold calling be useful for your team?
β
Iβll call you again tomorrow.
β
PS: dropped a connection request on LinkedIn.
β
The following email will typically point to something more specific like:
β
Many sales leaders find their consultants donβt handle objections properly on calls.
β
Would you take a look at a resource on this topic?
β
Iβll try you again in a couple of days.
β
In the third email, I share the resource and move on.
β
The aim is to get them to talk to me, thatβs it.
β
β
I typically send a blank connection request (higher acceptance rate).
β
I then wait 10 days.
β
Thereβs a good chance theyβll see my content.
β
The main reason you should be posting on LinkedIn consistently.
β
When you start a conversation, be casual, like youβre texting.
β
Use voice notes, memes, GIFs.
β
Whatever.
β
You can also point to the calls again.
β
Aim: start a conversation, then call them π
β
SMS/WhatsApp
β
Another channel you can use in combination with the phone.
β
I use it as a replacement for Voicemails.
β
The first one is like this:
β
*Hi {name}, This is Giulio Segantini; you received a LinkedIn request a couple of days ago: https://www.linkedin.com/in/underdogsales*
β
Iβll try again a couple of days down the line.
β
And the following ones are a bit quirkier, for example:
β
After 8 attempts to call, youβre either super busy, or Iβm barking up the wrong phone. Is this irrelevant?
β
Other Channels
β
There are at least two more channels worth mentioning.
β
Direct Mail
β
If your ACV is high, typically 10K USD+, then Iβd add this.
β
I will be trying this soon, and I will be coached by the master himself, Dale Dupree.
β
Iβd add this as the first step instead and leverage it on the first call, voicemail, email, etc.
β
Video
β
Another growing and solid channel.
β
As it typically implies, you can get good results if you personalise it.
β
The issue is getting the video opened in the first place.
β
Unlike a call, it doesnβt ring on someoneβs phone.
β
Send them via LinkedIn, WhatsApp or after the first email to maximise chances.
